1986年9月—1989年7月：山东农业大学植物生理生化，硕士
1992年10月—1997年10月：英国巴斯大学生物系，博士
2000年5月—2004年1月：University of Bristol, England(英国布里斯托大学生物系)，博士后
2004年2月—至今：英国巴斯大学生物系，高级博士后研究员

主要研究方向
１．克隆分离EPA、DHA合成途径中的相关基因，并转化到花生、大豆、玉米、苜蓿等重要的农牧业作物中，从而在其中生产鱼油。
２．G蛋白在植物信号转导途径中的分子作用机理研究．

科研成果
从海藻及真菌中克隆到了4个与制造长链不饱和脂肪酸(鱼肝油的有效及主要成分)有关的基因，其中的一个能够使18碳加长到20碳的链延长酶 (elongase)基因是此类基因中第一个被克隆到的；并将3个基因(我们自己克隆的链延长基因和两个不同的链减饱和基因desaturase)转移到植物中 (拟南芥Arabidopsis)，从而第一次证实了在转基因植物中生产鱼油的可行性。
